Something To Do?

As well as the amazing countryside, beaches, historical churches & settlements, and spectacular coastline around Anglesey, not to mention the mountains of Snowdonia, here are some of the many attractions that you can find around Anglesey and North Wales. 

 

 

  1. Anglesey Sea Zoo - a sealife conservation centre and Sea Zoo with local sealife, cafe and gift shop 
  2. Beaumaris Gaol - A rare insight into the world of the prisoner in the 1800's.  Explore the Spartan cells and places of punishment.  Visit the condemned cell and experience the darkness of the punishment cell..... A joint ticket which also gives access to the Courthouse is under £30 for a family of 4. 
  3. Beaumaris Castle - Britain's most technically perfect castle - perfectly symmetrical and the final castle in Edward I's castle building programme - he just never finished it!!   
  4. Beaumaris Courthouse - one of Britain's oldest Courthouses, now 400 years old.  Cases are still heard in the Courthouse once a year.  An interesting and inexpensive place to visit, a joint ticket which also gives access to the Gaol is around £30 for a family of 4.
  5. Foel Farm Park - Petting Farm, tractor rides, bouncy pillow, chocolate shop, cafe, gift shop and more! 
  6. Greenwood Family Park - An environmentally friendly theme park, all rides are powered without electricity.  Rides and attractions include a Solar Powered Water Ride, dragon roller coaster, indoor soft play, den building, archery, sledging, huge outdoor adventure playground, cafe, shop and much, much more.   
  7. Llynnon Mill - Wales' only working windmill, it still produces stoneground wholemeal flour.  There are also two roundhouses offering a unique insight into the life of Iron Age Farmers over 3,000 years ago.  There is also a pleasant gift shop and cafe where they both manufacture and sell their own chocolate and gins, as well as some gin parties on the lawn in Summer (check website) Melin Llynnon 
  8. Pili Palas Nature World - Great whatever the weather.  A nature centre with tropical butterflies, exotic birds, snakes, iguanas, tarantulas, lizards, bugs, rabbits, pigs, llamas, donkeys, goats and much more.  Hands on sessions are organised by the staff too!  There is also two outdoor play areas, an indoor soft play area, cafe, gift shop and more. 
  9. Plas Newydd Country House & Gardens - Elegant National Trust Mansion House and gardens set on the Menai Straits and overlooking Snowdonia. Tour the house, walks through the woodland and gardens, tree-house, frisbee golf, adventure playground and even red squirrels.  Restaurant, tea shop and 2nd hand bookshop too. 
  10. Portmeirion Village - a private village resort on the Snowdonian coast.  Built between 1925-76 in a variety of architectural styles surrounded by 70 acres of sub-tropical woodland gardens.  Restaurants, cafes, shops etc., Portmerion welcomes over 200,000 visitors each year. 
  11. RibRide Adventure Boat Tours - an adventure boat tour company running rides from Beaumaris, Caernarfon, Holyhead and Menai Bridge. 
  12. South Stack Lighthouse and Visitor Centre - Spectacular lighthouse accessible only by foot and over 400 steps to an island.  Also has a cafe and gift shop.
  13. Tacla Taid - A transport museum with over 100 vehicles from the 1920's onwards, set in a replica 1940's village cobbled street.  Also has a cafe and play area.   
  14. Welsh Mountain Zoo - The National Zoo of Wales in Colwyn Bay, with Snow Leopards, Sumatran Tigers and Bactrian Camels.  Penguins, Sea Lion Display, Chimp Encounter, Jungle Adventureland, Children's Farm, Cafe, Shop and much more. 
  15. Zip World - A unique activity/experience attraction across three locations!!  A former slate quarry now offering the world's fastest, and Europe's longest Zip Line, where speeds exceeding 100mph can be reached, as well as Truck Quarry Tours, and Karts.  A Forest location with a Forest Coaster, Zip Lines, Plummet and Skyride, and former slate caverns for an underground adventure, a 'bounce' subterranean playground on nets, spirals and slides, and a Junior Bounce for those aged 3-6.
